Lev Polugaevsky vs Mikhail Tal · 1980 · move 23.
Which bishop capture removes the pawn on c4?
Black’s advanced c-pawn and active rooks appear to secure space, but White builds pressure against the central defenders. A bishop capture on c4 and a knight capture on d5 transform the position through a long exchange sequence. The surviving rook then uses the seventh rank to restrict Black’s pieces.
